Introduction to the Deity
Zhang Daoling was a central figure in the early Tianshi Dao tradition, later revered as the First Celestial Master. "Celestial Master Zhang" also gradually became a highly representative title for a Daoist lineage in Chinese Daoist history.
Statues and Works
Later statues often feature elements such as a Daoist crown, ritual sword, ritual seal, or tiger, highlighting the Celestial Master's lineage identity and the dignified presence of a protector of the Dharma.
This piece was re-composed by Master Zhijian based on traditional statue elements, and hand-painted one by one in the gongbi heavy-color style. It uses natural mineral pigments and is finished with hand-applied gold detailing on the crown ornaments, robe patterns, ritual implements, and selected details. As a result, each piece will have natural variations in linework, color, and golden texture.
Production Process
Initial sketch in fine line drawing → layered color application → detailed refinement → hand-applied gold finishing. This is not printed, transferred, or mass-produced.
Enshrinement and Shipping
Master Zhijian personally paints each work in the Taoist temple where he practices. After painting is completed, the work remains on the altar at that same temple for 30 days before protective packing and dispatch. Because each piece is hand-painted, production time and scheduling may vary depending on the complexity of the work and the current order volume.
Wearing and Display
May be worn or displayed according to personal faith practices, and can also be collected as a small traditional Chinese deity artwork. Avoid prolonged soaking, high humidity, alcohol, and direct contact with chemical cleaners.
Note:This article presents traditional religious / folk belief culture and the actual creative process, and does not guarantee financial luck, health, relationships, career, or any other personal outcome.
