Introduction to the Deity
Wang Lingguan is one of the most representative guardian deities in Daoist temples and monasteries, often found at the mountain gate, Lingguan Hall, and other spaces. He symbolizes protection of the temple’s order, vigilance, and righteousness.
Iconography and Work
A red face, three eyes, a golden whip, and general attire are common iconographic features. The overall effect strives for majesty, alertness, and a strong visual impact.
This piece is newly composed by Master Zhijian on the basis of traditional iconographic elements, and each work is hand-painted in the gongbi, richly colored style. Natural mineral pigments are used, and the crowns, garment patterns, ritual implements, and local details are finished with hand-applied gold detailing. As a result, each piece will naturally vary in linework, color, and golden texture.
Production Process
Preliminary sketch in outline style → layered color application → refined detailing → hand-applied gold finish. This is not a print, transfer, or mass-produced item.
Offering and Shipping
Master Zhijian personally paints each work in the Taoist temple where he practices. After painting is completed, the work remains on the altar at that same temple for 30 days before protective packing and dispatch. Because each piece is hand-painted individually, production and scheduling will vary depending on the complexity of the work and the current order volume.
Wearing and Display
It may be worn or displayed according to personal faith practices, and may also be collected as a small traditional Chinese deity artwork. Avoid prolonged soaking, high humidity, alcohol, and direct contact with chemical cleaning agents.
