Introduction to the Deity
Lei Zu is the Nine Heavens Universal Response Thunder Voice Universal Transformation Heavenly Venerable, one of the most important revered deities in Taoist thunder-deity beliefs, closely connected with the Yushu Precious Scripture, the Five Thunders, and thunder-deity culture.
Iconography and Works
Different images may be portrayed in civil or martial form: the civil form emphasizes solemnity and order, while the martial form places greater emphasis on the might and power of the thunder deities and generals.
This piece is re-composed by Master Zhijian on the basis of traditional iconographic elements, and hand-painted piece by piece in meticulous gongbi with rich color. The work uses natural mineral pigments, with hand-applied gold detailing to finish the crown ornaments, robe patterns, ritual implements, and partial details. As a result, each piece will show natural variations in linework, color, and golden texture.
Production Process
Initial line drawing → layered color application → refined detailing → hand-applied gold finishing. Not printed, transferred, or mass-produced.
Consecration and Shipping
Master Zhijian personally paints each work in the Taoist temple where he practices. After painting is completed, the work remains on the altar at that same temple for 30 days before protective packing and dispatch. Because each piece is hand-painted, production time and scheduling will vary depending on the complexity of the work and the volume of current orders.
Wearing and Display
It may be worn or displayed according to personal devotional habits, and may also be collected as a small traditional Chinese deity image work. Avoid prolonged soaking in water, high humidity, and direct contact with alcohol or chemical cleaners.

Made in public, not hidden behind a finished photo
Master Zhijian regularly documents painting, seal carving, and temple work through live broadcasts. The creative process can be seen from the beginning rather than appearing only after completion.
