Deity Introduction
Historical figure Guan Yu was continuously deified in later generations, gradually becoming an important deity spanning Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, and folk belief. In Taoism, he is often honored as Lord Guan Sheng Emperor, and also serves as a guardian deity and God of Wealth for warriors.
Image and Work
The red face, long beard, green robe, and Green Dragon Crescent Blade are the most familiar image of Guan Gong; there are also scholarly depictions such as reading the Spring and Autumn Annals at night.
This piece was re-composed by Master Zhijian on the basis of traditional iconographic elements, and each one is hand-painted in meticulous color-wash style. The work uses natural mineral pigments, with hand-applied gold detailing on the crown ornaments, robe patterns, ritual implements, and selected details. As a result, each piece will have natural variations in linework, color, and gold texture.
Production Process
Sketch in outline → layered coloring → detailed refinement → hand-applied gold finishing. This is not printed, transferred, or mass-produced.
Offering and Shipping
After the work is completed, it is enshrined at a partner Taoist temple for 30 days according to the current process, and then protective packaging and shipment follow. Because each piece is hand-painted, production time and scheduling will vary depending on the complexity of the work and the current order volume.
Wear and Display
It may be worn or displayed according to personal religious practice, and can also be collected as a small traditional Chinese deity figure. Avoid prolonged soaking, high humidity, and direct contact with alcohol or chemical cleaning agents on the artwork.
