Deity Introduction
Doumu Yuanjun is an important revered deity in Taoist astral beliefs, often honored as the mother of the stars of the Northern Dipper, and closely connected with the culture of the Northern Dipper, the Nine Emperors, star worship, and one’s natal star.
Iconography and Work
Multiple heads, multiple arms, divine eyes, and holding the sun, moon, or various ritual implements are Doumu’s most distinctive iconographic features, and they also demand exceptional fine-brush detailing.
This piece was re-composed by Master Zhijian based on traditional iconographic elements, and hand-painted one by one in the gongbi heavy-color style. The work uses natural mineral pigments, with hand-applied gold detailing to finish the crown, robe patterns, ritual implements, and partial details, so each piece will naturally differ in linework, color, and gold texture.
Production Process
Drafted in outline first → layered color application → refined detailing → hand-applied gold finishing. This is not printed, transferred, or mass-produced.
Offering and Shipping
Master Zhijian personally paints each work in the Taoist temple where he practices. After painting is completed, the work remains on the altar at that same temple for 30 days before protective packing and dispatch. Because each piece is hand-painted, production time and scheduling will vary depending on the complexity of the work and the order volume at the time.
Wearing and Display
It may be worn or displayed according to personal religious practice, and can also be collected as a small-scale traditional Chinese deity artwork. Avoid prolonged soaking, high humidity, and direct contact with alcohol or chemical cleaners on the painted surface.
Note: This article presents traditional religious / folk-belief culture and the actual creative process, and does not guarantee wealth, health, relationships, career, or any other personal outcome.
