Introduction to the Deity
Bi Xia Yuan Jun is a highly influential goddess in the Mount Tai belief system, and worship has been especially widespread since the Ming and Qing dynasties. In folk practice, people often pray to her for wishes related to family, childbirth, children, and safety.
Iconography and Work
The courtly imperial consort-style attire, seated divine form, and Mount Tai cultural symbols are the common visual language of Bi Xia Yuan Jun. Overall, the image conveys dignity and kindness.
This piece was re-composed by Master Zhijian based on traditional iconographic elements, and each one was hand-painted in the meticulous fine-brush, richly colored style. The work uses natural mineral pigments, and the crown ornaments, garment patterns, ritual implements, and partial details are finished with hand-applied gold, so each piece will naturally vary in linework, color, and golden texture.
Production Process
Sketch in outline → apply color layer by layer → refine details → finish with hand-applied gold. This is not printed, transferred, or mass-produced.
Offering and Shipping
After the work is completed, it is sent to a cooperating Taoist temple for 30 days of enshrinement according to the current process, and then protected, packaged, and shipped. Because each piece is hand-painted, production and scheduling will vary depending on the complexity of the work and current order volume.
Wearing and Display
It may be worn or displayed according to personal devotional habits, and can also be collected as a small traditional Chinese deity image. Avoid prolonged soaking, high humidity, and direct contact with alcohol or chemical cleaning agents on the painted surface.
