The spirit of vermilion lips, expels filth and dispels foul vapors; the spirit of the tongue, sets order aright, connects with life and nourishes the spirit; the spirit of the many teeth, repels evil and guards the true; the spirit of the throat, tiger-like and valiant,The vital spirit draws forth saliva, the mind spirit enters the cinnabar field, letting me connect with the true, contemplating the spirit and refining the essence, the DaoQiLong-lasting

Incense Blessing Mantra
The Way is learned through the heart; the heart borrows incense to convey its message. The incense warms the jade burner, while the heart remains before the Emperor.The true spirits look down in hope; the immortals’ pendants arrive at the hall. The petition of this life is now announced, and goes straight to the Ninth Heaven.
The Golden Light Mantra
The mysterious ancestor of heaven and earth, the original root of all qi, cultivated extensively through countless kalpas, attaining my divine powers. Within and beyond the Three Realms, only the Dao is supreme. Its body bears golden light, shining over and covering my body. Look for it and it cannot be seen; listen for it and it cannot be heard. It embraces heaven and earth and nurtures all living beings. Recite and uphold it ten thousand times (starting from one recitation), and the body will have radiance. The Three Realms stand guard, the Five Emperors receive and welcome, all gods pay homage, thunder and lightning are commanded into service, ghosts and demons lose their nerve, spirits and monsters lose their form. Within is thunderclap power, the Thunder God conceals his name. Insight penetrates completely, the five qi surge and rise. Let the golden light appear at once and protect and cover (your own name). Urgent, urgent, by the decree and command of the Jade Emperor.
Opening Sutra Verse
The Thunder Patriarch Emperor of the Divine Firmament, the Lord of Universal Transformation of the Nine Heavens, Discussing the DaoThe Nine-Phoenix Deity sits cross-legged, upholding the Dharma and riding a qilin, commanding the generals of the sacred peaks, wielding authority over thunder and lightning. On the sixth day when the three xin days coincide, he observes people's good and evil deeds, dispels disasters and delivers them from hardship; invoke his name and recite the precious scripture.
The Precious Jade Pivot Scripture of the Heavenly Worthy of Universal Transformation of the Sound of Thunder in the Nine Heavens
爾時﹐九天應元雷聲普化天尊在玉淸天中﹐與十方諸天帝君﹐會于玉虛九光之殿鬱蕭彌羅之館紫極曲密之房﹐閱太幽碧瑤之笈﹐考洞微明晨之書﹐交頭接耳﹐細議重玄﹐諸多陪臣﹐左右踧踖。天尊宴坐朗誦洞章﹐諸天帝君長吟步虛﹐綵女仙姝散花旋繞﹐復相引領﹐遊戲翠宮。群仙導前﹐先節後鉞﹐龍旂鸞轄﹐飄颻太空﹐並集于玉梵七寶層臺。時有雷師皓翁﹐于仙眾中越班而出﹐面天尊前﹐頫〔音府〕顱〔音信〕作禮﹐勃變長跪﹐上白天尊言﹕天尊大慈﹐天尊大聖﹐爲群生父﹐爲萬靈師。今者諸天咸此良覿〔音敵〕。適見天尊閱寶笈﹐考瓊書于中祕賾﹐不可縷計。惟有玉霄一府所統三十六天內院中司﹑東西華臺﹑玄館妙閣﹑四府六院及諸有司﹐各分曹局﹐所以總司五雷天臨三界者也。天尊至皇﹐心親庶政﹐此等小兆﹐以何因緣得以趨服﹐願告欲聞。
天尊言﹕雷師皓翁﹐爾等仙卿﹐儲勳夙世﹐累行昨生﹐故得玉府登庸﹐瓊宮簡錄。今玆勳行﹐視夙昨多﹐爾其悉力﹐雷司委心火部。日復日﹐歲復歲﹐勳崇行著﹐性霽神融﹐克證高眞﹐卽階妙道。惟是雷部鬼神﹐晝勞夕役﹐動有捶楚﹐大則考戮屑云凋雪﹐無有已時﹐檄龍命鴉﹐此息彼作﹐彼所因故爾其耳焉。雷師皓翁及諸天諸仙﹐聳耳而默。天尊所坐九鳳丹霞之扆〔音倚〕。手舉金光明之如意﹐瑯風淸微﹐綺云鬱麗﹐天尊寂然良久。
The Heavenly Worthy said: In ages past, over the course of fifteen hundred kalpas, I upheld this Dao with unwavering resolve and thus attained the rank of Highest Perfected One. Nurturing this merit in my heart, I was then entrusted with the great transformation. Once, before the Primordial Heavenly Worthy of the Great Luo, I made a vast vow with a pure and tranquil heart: in future ages, may all sentient beings, heavenly dragons, ghosts, and spirits who invoke my name even once all be delivered and liberated. If this should not be so, I shall bear it with my own body. Cleanse your hearts, and I will proclaim it to you.
The Celestial Lord said: You gods and humans wish to hear the ultimate Way. The ultimate Way is profound and unfathomable; it is not found elsewhere. Since you wish to hear it, that which does not hear is true non-hearing; that which sees is the true Way. When seeing is opened, it too fades away—only you remain. Even you are not truly existent, let alone the Way. Hearing without hearing—what Way is there to speak of?
天尊言﹕道者﹐以誠而入﹐以默而守﹐以柔而用。用誠似愚﹐用默似訥﹐用柔似拙。夫如是則可與忘形﹐可與忘我﹐可與忘忘。入道者知止﹐守道者知謹﹐用道者知微。能知微則慧光生﹐能知謹則聖智全﹐能知止則泰定安。泰定安則聖智全﹐聖智全則慧光生﹐慧光生則與道爲一﹐是名眞忘。惟其忘而不忘﹐忘無可忘﹐無可忘者卽是至道。道在天地﹐天地不知﹐有情無情﹐惟一無二。
天尊言﹕吾今于世﹐何以利生﹖爲諸天人演此妙寶。得悟之者﹐俾躋仙阼。學道之士﹐信有气數。夫風土不同﹐則稟受自異﹐故謂之气。智愚不同﹐則淸濁自異﹐故謂之數。數繫乎命﹐气擊乎天﹐气數所囿﹐天命所梏﹐不得眞道。愚可以智﹐濁可以淸﹐惟命俾之。愚昏昏﹐濁冥冥﹐亦風土稟受之移之。天地神其機﹐使人不知﹐則曰自然。使知其不知﹐則亦曰自然。自然之妙﹐𨿽妙于知﹐而所以妙﹐則自乎不知。然于道則未始﹐有﹐以愚之濁之。諸天聞已﹐四眾咸悅。
天尊言﹕吾今所說﹐卽是玉樞寶經。若未來世﹐有諸眾生﹐得聞吾名﹐但冥心默想作是念﹐言九天應元雷聲普化天尊﹐或一聲﹐或五七聲﹐或千百聲﹐吾卽化形十方﹐運心三界﹐使稱名者﹐咸得如意。十方三界﹐諸天諸地﹐日月星辰﹐山河艸木﹐飛走蠢動﹐若有知若無知﹐天龍鬼神﹐聞諸眾生一稱吾名﹐如有不順者﹐馘首刳心﹐化爲微塵。
The Heavenly Worthy said: I am the Great Sage of Chaste Radiance of the Ninth Heaven. On the sixth day of each month and on xin days in the middle ten-day periods, I inspect the myriad heavens and roam through the Three Realms. If anyone wishes to study the Way, seek immortality, deliver the nine generations of ancestors, or be freed from the three calamities, they should invite an orthodox Daoist priest, or together with family and friends, at a temple tower, at home, or in the local community, offer water and flowers and recite this scripture. Whether once, three or five times, or even dozens or hundreds of times, they will at once attain clarity of spirit and refreshing vitality, with a broad heart and a well-nourished body [pronounced pan]. Whatever they seek, all will respond to their sincerity.
The Celestial Worthy said: “There are nine spirits within the body—why not summon them?” The first is called Tiansheng, the second Wuying, the third Xuanzhu, the fourth Zhengzhong, the fifth Zidan, the sixth Huihui, the seventh Danwu, the eighth Taiyuan, and the ninth Lingtong. Summon them, and it will bring good fortune. There are also three essences within the body—why not call upon them? The first is called Taiguang, the second Shuangling, and the third Youjing. Call upon them, and it will bring blessings. When the five hearts are troubled and oppressed [pronounced “men”], the six pulses are in turmoil, the four limbs lose their calm, and all the joints cry out in distress, it is fitting to recite this scripture.
天尊言﹕若或有人五行奇蹇﹐九曜嶔崎﹐年逢刑沖﹐運值尅戰﹐孤辰寡宿﹐羊刃劍鋒﹐劫煞亡神﹐鬼門絞﹐祿遭破敗﹐馬落空亡﹐動用凶危﹐行藏坎壈﹐卽誦此經。上請天官解天戹﹐地官解地息﹐水官解水戹﹐五帝解五方戹﹐四聖解四時戹﹐南辰解本命戹﹐北斗解一切戹。
天尊言﹕沈痾伏枕﹐痼疾壓身﹐積時弗廖﹐求醫罔效﹐五神無主﹐四大不收。或是五帝三官之前﹐泰山五道之前﹐日月星辰之前﹐山林艸木之前﹐靈壇古迹之前﹐城隍社廟之前﹐里巷井竃之前﹐寺觀塔樓之前﹐或地府三十六獄冥官七十二司有諸冤枉﹐致此牽纏。或盟詛咒誓之所招﹐或債垜負償之所致。三世結釁﹐累劫興仇﹐埒其咎尢﹐厙其執對﹐皆當首謝﹐卽誦此經。
天尊言﹕天官符﹐地官符。年月日時﹐各有官符。方隅向背﹐各有官符。大則官符﹐小則口舌﹐是有赤口白舌之神以主之。凡諸動作興舉﹐出入起居﹐不知避忌。如遇官符口舌﹐則使人擊聒。曉夜煎煼〔音炒〕。多招唇吻。面是背非﹐動致口牙。盟神詛佛﹐始于謗讟〔音瀆〕﹐終于詬詆。由是獄訟生焉﹐刑憲存焉。若欲脫之﹐卽誦此經﹐遂得口舌潛消﹐官符永息。
The Heavenly Worthy said: The Earth Sovereign’s nine domains are governed by 1,200 deities: Earth Marquis, Earth Earl, Earth Father, Earth Mother, Earth Sons, Earth Grandsons, and the entire Earth household. Whether Tai Sui, the General, the Crane Deity, Tai Bai, the Nine Liang, Sword Edge, Female and Male, Metal Deity, Fire Blood, Yellow Body, Life Clash, Three Sha, Seven Sha, Yellow Banner and Leopard Tail, or Flying Lian and Blade Anvil—these and others are the ominous deities of the Earth household. If people undertake construction or building and violate even one of them, it will bring illness and sickness, even leading to death. But once this scripture is recited, all deities will arise; Heaven has no taboos, Earth has no taboos, yin and yang have no taboos, and all prohibitions are lifted.
The Heavenly Worthy said: Among worldly husbands and wives, when entering into marriage, some offend Xianchi, some offend Tiangou; the three punishments and six harms, clashing angles intertwined, solitary yin and scant yang, the net of heaven and the snare of earth—these make it hard to have children, and many remain lonely. If one wishes to seek a son, then recite this scripture, and the Great God of the Nine Heavens who oversees birth will summon the spirits and gather the winds, and thus a worthy son will be born. At the time of delivery, Taiyi will be at the door, and the Director of Fate in the courtyard. If there are grievances, ghostly apparitions, taboos, or evil misfortunes that cause difficult labor, recite this scripture, and at once the chamber will be guarded by the Nine Heavens, while the Holy Mother silently aids and delivers the child, so that childbirth will be auspicious and labor safe and free from worry. Whenever there is an infant in swaddling clothes, the fifteen kinds of ghosts beneath the seat of the Sandalwood Divine King may inflict distress and harm, often causing fright and convulsions [pronounced xian]. This scripture should be recited.
天尊言﹕若人居止﹐烏鼠送妖﹐蛇虫嫁孽﹐拋磚擲瓦﹐驚雞弄狗﹐邀求祭祀﹐以至影脇夢逼﹐及于姦盜。而敢據其所居﹐以爲巢穴﹐遂使生人被惑。庭戶不淸﹐夜嘯于梁﹐晝瞰其室﹐牛馬犬豕亦遭瘟疫。禍連骨肉﹐災及孳生﹐淫祠妖社﹐黨庇神姦﹐弔客頻仍﹐喪車疊出。若誦此經﹐卽使鬼精滅爽﹐人物咸寧。
天尊言﹕九天雷公將軍﹐五方雷公將軍﹐八方云雷將軍﹐五方蠻雷使者﹐雷部兵使者﹐莫賺判官﹐發號施令﹐疾如風火。有廟可伐﹐有壇可擊﹐有妖可除﹐有祟可遣。季世末法﹐多諸巫覡﹐邪法流行﹐陰肆魘禱。是故上淸乃有天延禁鬼錄姦之庭﹐帝由束妖考邪之房。能誦此經﹐其應如響。
天尊言﹕天瘟地瘟﹐二十五瘟。天蠱地蠱﹐二十四蠱。天瘵地瘵﹐三十六瘵。能誦此經﹐卽使瘟㾮淸淨﹐蠱毒消除﹐勞瘵平復。亦有其由﹐或者先亡復連﹐或者伏屍故气﹐或者塚訟墓注﹐或者死魂染惹﹐或者屍气感招。凡此鬼神﹐或悲思﹐或恚恨﹐牽連執證﹐並緣注射乘隙伺間﹐乃得其便。故此經者﹐上通三天﹐下徹九泉﹐可以追薦魂爽﹐超度祖玄﹐太上遣素車白馬大將軍以監之。
天尊言﹕若或有人治裝遠行﹐賊盜騁姦﹐五兵加害。陸行則虎狼魈蟻磨其牙﹐水行則蛟龍黿鼉張其頤。或灘瀨有幽枉之魂﹐或風濤有劫數之會。前亡後化﹐捉生代死﹐能于此經歸命投誠﹐故得水陸平康﹐行藏協吉。
The Heavenly Venerable said: When excessive yang turns cruel and the nourishing rains are delayed, bowing to this scripture will bring timely sweet rain. When accumulating yin becomes calamitous and the rains pour without cease, bowing to this scripture will bring timely clear skies. When the Fire God spreads disaster, flames fly into the homes of the people, red rats roam the city, and scorching heat terrifies the common folk, this scripture can ward it off. When the sea god loses order, fish and turtles run amok, floodwaters rise to the heavens, and the people are drowned in misery, this scripture can stop it.
天尊言﹕世人欲免三災九橫之戹﹐卽于靜夜稽首北辰。北辰之上﹐上有三臺﹐其星並躔﹐形如雙目﹐疊爲三級﹐以覆斗魁﹐是名天階。若人見之﹐生前無刑囚之憂﹐身後不淪沒之苦。斗中復有尊帝﹐二星大如車輪﹐若人見之﹐畱形住世﹐長生神仙。歸命此經﹐投心北極﹐卽有冥感。斗爲天樞﹐中有天罡﹐在內則爲廉貞﹐在外則爲破軍。雷城十二門﹐並隨天罡之所指。罡星指丑﹐其身在未﹐所指者吉﹐所在者凶﹐餘位皆然。若人見之﹐壽可千歲。
天尊言﹕世衰道微﹐人無德行。不忠君王﹐不孝父母﹐不敬師長﹐不友兄弟﹐不誠夫婦﹐不義朋友﹐不畏天地﹐不懼神明﹐不禮三光﹐不重五穀﹐身三口四﹐大秤小斗﹐殺生害命﹐人百己千﹐姦私邪淫﹐妖巫一叛逆。從微至著﹐三官鼓筆﹐太乙移文﹐卽付五雷斬勘之司。先斬其神﹐後勘其形﹐斬神誅魂﹐使之顚倒。人所鄙殘人所嫌害﹐人所怨惡﹐以至勘形震屍﹐使之崩裂。驅其捲水﹐役其驅車﹐月廉〔音核〕旬校﹐復有考掠。一聞此經﹐其罪卽滅。若或有人爲雷所嗔﹐其屍不舉﹐水火不受﹐卽稱九天應元雷聲普化天尊﹐作是念言﹐萬神稽首﹐咸聽吾命。
The Heavenly Worthy said: "The merits of this scripture are beyond comprehension. In ages past, it was proclaimed by the True King of Divine Firmament Jade Clarity, the Great Emperor of Long Life. When this scripture is bestowed upon a worthy person, one should offer cut gold and laid-out silk, and make a covenant before Heaven to transmit it."
雷師皓翁﹐長跪拜興﹐重白天尊言﹕是經在處﹐當令土地司命﹐隨所守護﹐雷部按臨﹐以時稽審。若人家有此經﹐至誠安奉﹐卽得祥煙滿庭﹐慶云蔭軒﹐禍亂不萌﹐吉福來萃﹐于其亡歿﹐不經地獄。所以者何﹖死卽往生﹐生歸善道﹐承天尊力﹐有此靈通。出入起居﹐佩帶此經﹐眾人所欽﹐鬼神所畏。遇諸險難﹐一心稱名九天應元雷聲普化天尊﹐悉得解脫。
Then, before the Celestial Worthy, Elder Leishi Hao spoke this verse: Supreme Jade Pure King, Ruler of the thirty-six heavens. Lord of Universal Transformation in the Nine Heavens, Manifesting forms throughout the worlds of the ten directions. With hair unbound, riding a qilin, Barefoot, treading upon layered ice. In hand he holds the qi of the nine heavens, Whistling up wind, whipping thunder and lightning. With the power of wisdom, He subdues all demonic spirits. He saves the souls in the long night, Bringing benefit to all living beings. Like the waters of the Silver River, A thousand eyes, a thousand moon wheels. He vows that in ages to come, He will forever spread the Celestial Worthy's teachings. When Elder Leishi Hao had finished speaking this verse.
天尊言﹕此經傳世﹐世人未知。吾今所治九天應元府﹐府有九天雷門使者﹐以紏錄典者﹑廉訪與者佐之。復有四司﹕一曰掠剩司﹐二曰積逮司﹐三曰幽枉司﹐四曰報應司﹐各有大夫以掌其事。吾之所理﹐卿師使相﹐咸贊元化。
天尊說是經畢﹐玉梵七寶層臺天花繽紛﹐瓊香繚繞。十方諸天帝君﹐咸稱善哉。天龍鬼神﹐雷部官眾﹐三界萬靈﹐皆大歡喜﹐信受奉行。

九天應元府，無上玉清王，化形而滿十方，談道而趺九風。三十六天之上，閱寶笈，考瓊書。千五百劫之先，位正真，權大化。手舉金光如意，宣說玉樞寶經。不順化作微塵，發號疾如風火。以清靜心而弘大願，以智慧而伏諸魔。總司五雷，運心三界。群生父，萬靈師。大聖大慈，至皇至道。
The Heavenly Worthy of Universal Transformation through the Thunderous Sound of the Nine Heavens’ Responsive Origin
Altar Guardian of the Land, most efficacious among the gods, ascending to heaven and reaching the earth, emerging from the hidden and entering the netherworld, present my petition on my behalf without delay. On the day merit is achieved, let the name be recorded in the Highest Clarity. May the merit and virtue from the sutra recitation just now be offered upward.
Revere the Highest Truth, pray for peace and safety, bestow blessings and dispel calamities, all relying on virtuous deeds, to realize the supreme path. All who believe and pay reverence should sincerely recite and contemplate.
